Log Backup 

In a log backup, the contents of the log area are copied to version files or backed up using an external backup tool.

If you use version files, a version file is generated for each log segment of the log area.

The space in the log area that was originally used by the backed up log entries is available to be overwritten again after the log backup.

You can use the following log backup types:

·        Automatic log backup

·        Interactive log backup
