Linking Business Objects
For a successful Drag&Relate operation, a relation must be made between the Business Object from the Drag&Relate source and the Business Object form the Drag&Relate target. There are manual relationships, foreign key and automatic relationships.
Within SAP BW, relationships between InfoObjects can frequently be defined using foreign keys. The navigation attributes of characteristics or compounded characteristics are examples of foreign keys. Implicit relationships are defined using foreign keys.
The Business
Objects from ERP systems are defined in the
Business Object
Repository (BOR). For more information on how BOR objects can be linked
with InfoObjects, see Working with BOR
Objects und BW InfoObjects.
For more information on the semantic relationships between InfoObjects from BW Business Content and BOR objects, see Characteristics Compatible with Drag&Relate.
For more
information on the use of BOR objects, see
Drag&Relate and
the Business Object Repository.
The
Relationship
Editor also enables the definition of manual requests such as a
transformation of keys. For more information, see
Editing
Queries
The
procedure is explained extensively under
Relation
Resolving. The relationships can be created manually using the
Relationship
Editor or automatically using
Auto-Completing
Relations.
1. Start the iView Content Administration ® Unification. A special form of the Portal Content Studio with the Relationship Editor appears.
2. Expand the folders under the Business Objects folder. Now you can see all existing Business Objects sorted by the logical systems.
3. In the context menu of the Business Object, choose whether you want to link the Business Object as a source and/or target.
4. In the case of a foreign key, the system marks the relationship as such. You can also edit the relationship manually or fill it automatically.
With linked Business Objects, Drag&Relate operations can be executed to start iViews with application-specific parameters.
