· The copy (copy and paste), move (cut and paste), and delete actions in the Portal Catalog right-click context menu have been revamped and improved:
¡ The actions are now wizard-based making the flow more intuitive, streamlined, and controllable by the user.
¡ Before an action is executed, the wizards verify if it can be performed. The wizards specify any reasons preventing an action from being executed. The wizards check for the following:
§ Object locking status (locked objects prevent an action from being performed).
§ Permissions (permission levels determine which actions can be performed).
§ Object dependencies (objects that were not necessarily selected by the user, but which need to be updated as a result of the selected action).
§ Hidden or filtered objects (for example, iViews may exist in a folder when working in the Portal Content Studio, but are not viewable in the same folder when working in the System Landscape Editor).
¡ The wizards enable the user to view locked objects preventing an action, and to view their respective owners.
¡ The wizards enable the user to view dependent objects and subsequently determine if the action should proceed or not.
¡ The wizards display a progress bar at the execution phase until the action is complete.
¡ The wizards lock all relevant objects (including external dependencies) while the action is being performed.
¡ Error handling has been improved.
¡ If an action is stopped by the user or as a result of a system error, a built-in roll-back feature restores the Portal Catalog to its initial state.
For more
information, see
Copying an Object or
Folder (Copy / Paste),
Moving an Object or
Folder (Cut / Paste), and
Deleting a Folder or
Object.
· A new Change ID action has been added to the Portal Catalog right-click context menu:
¡ This action allows users to quickly change the name, ID and ID prefix of an object or folder without opening its primary editor.
¡ If an object contains embedded objects or objects reside in a folder, their properties are also changed according to the new PCD location.
¡ All external dependencies that reference the objects being changed are also updated to point to the new ID.
¡ The user can selectively choose which objects in the selected object or folder are changed (available for ID Prefix property only).
For more
information, see
Changing an Object
ID.
· The Portal Catalog can be customized by an administrator so that objects display their ID, friendly display name, or both. Also, the maximum number of entries displayed per Portal Catalog folder can be specified. In this version, the location of the iViews that need to be customized has changed.
For more
information, see
Customizing the Portal
Catalog > Choosing the iViews to
Configure.
