The BAPI to be developed is to determine data for a flight (business object type Flight). To identify the flight, the program that is calling must transfer the airline code, the date of the flight, and the number of the flight connection (key fields of the business object type Flight) to the BAPI. The information that the BAPI returns must contain the most important data about the flight and additional, detailed information plus information about flight availability.

To map these requirements to the BAPI interface, the following parameters are created in the function module that the BAPI is based on:

• The key fields AirlineID (airline code), ConnectionID (number of connection), and FlightDate of the business object type Flight as import parameters in the BAPI function module
• A FlightData parameter, which returns the key flight data (place of departure/destination, departure/arrival times, and price, for example)
• An AdditionalInfo parameter, which contains detailed information (flight route, airplane type, and length of flight)
• An Availability parameter, which contains data about availability (number of free seats)
• A Return parameter, which returns messages to the calling program
