Use

Use this screen to define single filter values and filter ranges.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

Defining filters is usually optional, but depending on the template you have chosen it may be an important step. For the Percentage Share template, for example, you usually need to define filters in order for the business logic to work correctly.

Procedure

To define single filter values

Use the Browse tab to navigate within a the metadata hierarchy to the member on which to base the filter:

...

       1.      Using the Dimension drop-down list, select the dimension in which to browse for a member.

The Hierarchy drop-down list is populated with all hierarchies in the selected dimension, and the metadata hierarchy below displays the metadata in the selected hierarchy.

       2.      To change the selected hierarchy, select a different value from the Hierarchy drop-down list.

       3.      In the metadata hierarchy, expand the desired level and locate the member or members upon which to base single filter values.

       4.      Select a member and Click à to transfer it to the Selected Filter Values list. Repeat to define additional filter values. You may create individual filter values with members from different levels, hierarchies, or dimensions.

To define filter ranges

Use a start member and an end member that belong to the same level.

On the Browse tab, navigate to locate the start and end members in a given level in the metadata hierarchy:

       1.      Use steps 1 and 2 above to navigate to the desired list of levels.

       2.      Expand the level in which your start and end members are located.

       3.      Select a start member (to indicate the start of the range) and click à  to transfer it to the Selected Filter Values list.

       4.      From the same level in the metadata hierarchy, select the end member of the range and click Range à. The end member’s name is appended to the name of the start member in the Selected Filter Values list, indicating that the range is active.

To work with existing filters

·        Click Clear to remove all filters from Selected Filter Values list.

·        Click the ß button to remove a selected filter or filter range from the Selected Filter Values list.

·        View any details about a selected filter in the Filter Details section of the screen.

To search metadata

If you are having trouble locating a specific member in your data service, or if you have expanded a level with too many members to display in the list, you may search for a specific member within a selected level.

On the Search tab:

       1.      The drop-down lists are automatically populated with the currently selected dimension, hierarchy, and list of levels from the Browse tab, if available. Change the values if you would like to search within a different level. You must select a level in which to search.

       2.      Place your cursor in the Member field, and type the name of the member you wish to find. This field also functions as a drop-down list, which you can use to select from the history of searched terms.

       3.      Click Search.

If the member is found, it will be displayed in the list below.
