Use

You can publish BEx Web Applications and queries in various areas.

Integration

In the BEx Web Application Designer, select the menu entry Publish to publish BEx Web Applications. In the Query Designer, select the This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Publish symbol to publish queries. For more information, see Functions of the Menu Toolbar in the Web Application Designer and Functions of the BEx Query Designer.

Features

Publishing in Roles

You have created and saved a query or Web application and now you want to make it available to other users that have BW roles. The save dialog appears and you can select a BW role in which you want to publish the query or Web application. The system saves a link to the current query or Web application in the selected BW role.

Publishing to the Enterprise Portal

You have created and saved a query or Web application and now you want to make it available to other users in the Enterprise Portal. The save dialog appears. It contains various views of the portal in which a Web template or a query (that is displayed with the Standard Web Template for Ad-hoc Analysis) can be stored. Depending on view, the system generates either iViews in the portal or links in Knowledge Management.

The following views are available for selection in the save dialog:

·        My Portfolio

·        CM-Repository view

·        Collaboration room

·        Portal content

·        Portal roles

With My Portfolio the system generates a link in Knowledge Management under the user’s personal folder (/~alias~/userhome/<user.id>).

With the CM Repository View the system generates a link in Knowledge Management under the KM folder /entrypoints. In this KM folder, which serves as the entry point, you find links to other repositories and KM folders. For further information, see Entry Points.

Under Collaboration Room the rooms assigned to a user are displayed. The rooms can be created with the collaboration functions and can be assigned to individual users or groups. The system generates a link in Knowledge Management under the selected collaboration room.

Note

A link in Knowledge Management can be immediately visible to users if those users have access to the selected folder in Knowledge Management via a KM navigation iView For more information, see KM Navigation.

Portal system administrators (users with the portal role super_admin_role) are able to see the contents of the views My Portfolio and CM Repository View in the portal under Content Administration  KM Content. The content of the view Collaboration Room is displayed in the portal Collaboration  Room Directory.

With Portal Content the system generates an iView to the BEx Web Application or query in the Portal Content Catalog. For more information, see Portal Content Studio and Displaying Content from SAP BW in Enterprise Portal.

Note

Portal system administrators (users with the portal role super_admin_role) are able to see the contents of the view Portal Content in the portal under Content Administration  Portal Content.

To make the iView visible to users, the iView has to be assigned to a portal role or a portal page that is included in a portal role. The Portal Roles view enables this directly in the Web Application Designer

The iView is automatically assigned the property Drag&Relate Target Object = 1. This means you can select the iView as a Drag&Relate target in other iViews. For more information, see Drag&Relate with BW Content in Enterprise Portal.

The portal cache is not activated for the iView. Activation of the portal cache is done using the Portal Content Studio. For more information, see Integration Using the Portal Content Studio.

The Portal Roles view displays the portal roles assigned to the user. This view combines the creation of iViews in the Portal Content Catalog (see Portal Content view) and assignment of iViews to a portal role or portal page. The iViews are always appended to the folders of the portal role or to the portal page from below. You can also generate links in Knowledge Management in the Portal Roles view.

The system shows all iViews with BEx Web applications from the BEx system that you logged onto with the BEx Web Application Designer. The content of KM navigation iViews that are included in the portal roles or portal pages is seamlessly integrated into the hierarchy of the portal roles.

The extra input field Portal Content Catalog is visible when you select a folder for a portal role or a portal page. The iView with the BEx Web Application is assigned to this portal role or portal page. The input field enables you to enter the directory where the iView in the Portal Content Catalog should be saved. The input help opens the Portal Content view.

The generated iView receives all the same properties described under the Portal Content view.

If you select a folder below a KM navigation iView, this folder becomes a folder in Knowledge Management and the system generates a link in Knowledge Management.

Note

Portal system administrators (users with the portal role super_admin_role) are able to see the contents of the view Portal Content in the portal under Content Administration  Portal Content. In order to see the content of the individual portal roles, you have to open them for editing.

Background documentation
