Use

In the Characteristic Properties dialog box, for example, Order, you can make various settings for the characteristic at runtime.

Features

Which options to change the characteristic the system shows depends on the properties of the characteristic – characteristic with/without attributes, characteristic with/without hierarchies. Besides general settings that you can change for each characteristic, you can display the additional options that are dependent on the properties of a characteristic. The dialog box contains up to three additional areas:

·        Display the Following Attributes (Characteristics with Attributes)

·        Presentation Hierarchy (Characteristics with Hierarchies)

·        Display of Hierarchy Nodes (Characteristics with active presentation hierarchies)

For all characteristics

Layout

You can determine here whether and in which format you want to present the individual characteristic values of the characteristic.

·        No Display: The characteristic display is hidden.

·        Key and Text: The characteristic values are shown by their technical key and by their text.

·        Text: The characteristic values are shown by their text.

·        Key: The characteristic values are shown by their technical key.

·        Text and Key: The characteristic values are shown by their text, followed by their technical key.

Once you have made a setting in display type that contains text, you can select which text type you want to set in the dropdown box next to it. You can choose from the following options:

·        Standard: The shortest available text for the characteristic values is used as the text.

·        Short text: The short text for the characteristic values is used as the text.

·        Medium Text: The medium text for the characteristic values is used as the text.

·        Long text: The long text for the characteristic values is used as the text.

Background documentation

Under Display, the system always allows you to select every text that was created in InfoObject maintenance for the characteristic. See Structure linkTab Page: Master Data/Texts.

If you do not set anything here, the system uses the display type that you set in Query Design under Characteristic Properties. If you have not made a setting for query design, the system will use the standard display type that you have set in InfoObject maintenance under Structure linkTab Page: Business Explorer.

Sorted by

You determine here how the system is to sort, by;

·        Key

·        Name

·        Selection

Where there are characteristics with attributes, the following additional options for the attributes are available:

·        Attribute Key

·        Attribute Text

If you have selected Key or Attribute Text, in the second dropdown box, select the attribute for which this sort setting is to apply.

Note

To transfer this setting, under Display Following Attribute, select the corresponding attribute.

Sort direction

Choose Ascending or Descending for the Sort direction.

Suppress results rows

Here you can choose whether to suppress the results rows Never, Always or Only for One Value. Only for One Value means that only those results rows are suppressed that aggregate only one value, that is, the value and the result are identical and the results row repeats the same value.

Display the following attributes

In order to display a specific attribute, select the checkbox in front of the attribute concerned.

In order to determine the form in which the attribute is displayed, choose

·        Key and Text: The attribute values are shown by their technical key, followed by the shortest available text.

·        Text: The attribute values are shown by their shortest available text.

·        Key: The attribute values are shown by their technical key.

·        Text and Key: The attribute values are shown by their shortest available text, followed by their technical key.

·        Long Text: The attribute values are shown by their long text.

·        Medium Text: The attribute values are shown by their medium text.

In order to determine the order of each attribute when you select several of them, select the respective position (1,2,3...) in the dropdown box.

Presentation hierarchy

Select Active and, in the dropdown box, select the name of the hierarchy when the characteristic is to be displayed with this hierarchy.

In order to determine to which hierarchy level the hierarchy is to be expanded, select the Expansion level in the dropdown box.

Displaying hierarchy nodes

Note

This function is only available if the characteristic has an active presentation hierarchy. If you only denoted the hierarchy as an active presentation hierarchy during runtime and not in the query definition, you firstly need to choose Transfer. This option is made available when you call up the Characteristic Properties  dialog box again.

If you want to set the format in which the hierarchy nodes of the characteristic are to be displayed, in the respective text node dropdown box and the available hierarchy characteristic nodes, choose the required display type:

·        Key and Text

·        Text

·        Key

·        Text and Key

·        Long text

·        Medium text

Activities

In the Web application, from the enhanced context menu of a characteristic or its characteristic value, choose Properties. You get to the Characteristic Properties dialog box. Make your settings and choose Transfer.
