Definition

Portal roles for rooms provide cross-room permissions that are valid throughout the portal for working in rooms.

Use

By assigning the appropriate portal roles, you assign portal users the following permissions for specific activities in connection with rooms:

Portal Roles for Collaboration

By default, the following portal roles are relevant when configuring and using rooms:

Content Administration

Gives permission to access content objects in the portal. The content objects relevant for Collaboration are stored in the following areas:

·        Collaboration content

This area provides access to maintenance of templates for rooms and room parts and to room administration.

In addition, Collaboration content contains links to all activities for configuring the room infrastructure.

·        Portal content

This area provides access to editing content objects in the Portal Content Directory (PCD) that are relevant for Collaboration. The worksets that define the structure of rooms are stored in the PCD.

Note

To allow editing of worksets for room templates and room part templates, the Content Administration role must have write permission for content objects in the PCD.

Usage

Collaboration (Room Creation)

Gives permission for the following activities:

·        Creating rooms

·        Managing a user’s own rooms (in which the user is the room owner or room administrator)

This role is relevant for power users (see the Power User’s Guide).

 

Collaboration

Gives users permission to use rooms as virtual working environments in the portal. This role provides access to the following applications:

·        Room directory (entering rooms)

·        My tasks (managing a user’s tasks)

·        My sessions (managing a user’s session records)
