Process documentation Installation of Corrections on the Mobile Device Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Purpose

You can automatically install corrections (upgrades, support packages, support package patches) for the SAP MI Client Component on the mobile device. If necessary, adjust the archive you received from SAP, and then deploy it to the mobile device from the SAP MI Web Console. The correction is transferred to the mobile device with the next synchronization and installed there after confirmation of the appropriate configuration.

Note

If you are using a Linux operating system, you cannot use this process.

Prerequisites

At least SAP MI Client Component 2.5 SP09 is installed on the mobile device.

Process Flow

       1.      If necessary, you adjust the installation archive to your requirements:

¡        File install.xml, containing the installation instructions: Here you can define what is installed and what is displayed, see Adjusting Installation Instructions.

¡        Archive contents: If you modified the SAP MI Client Component, you might need to make these changes in the archive as well, see Adjusting Installation Archives.

Note

The archive contains modified data only. If you modification does not affect these files, an adjustment is not necessary.

       2.      You upload the archive to the SAP MI Web Console as an add-on (see Uploading Add-On Files).

       3.      You assign the uploaded archive to roles or users (see Assignment of Mobile Components to Users).

       4.      With the next synchronization, the installation program for the correction of the SAP MI Client Component is started on the mobile device. The user can start the installation process immediately or at a later time.

       5.      Once the installation was started, the installation program replaces the relevant files on the mobile device with the modified files from the archive, and deletes and copies files.

Note

The mobile device configurations, which are defined with parameters in file MobileEngine.config, are retained.

With the appropriate configuration, the user of the mobile device sees the progress of the installation and any error messages.

       6.      When the installation has been completed, the system restarts the SAP MI Client Component.
