Procedure documentation Defining an iView as a Drag&Relate Target Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

A Drag&Relate target is an iView that is designated with the symbol This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.  A Drag&Relate target is displayed within the navigation panel, either in the iView Detailed Navigation or in the iView Drag&Relate Target Objects. If you drop a Drag&Relate link with the symbol This graphic is explained in the accompanying text on a Drag&Relate target with the symbol This graphic is explained in the accompanying text, a Drag&Relate Operation is performed.

First the main objects on the iView must be maintained so that, for a Drag&Relate operation, the system can determine whether an iView is able to accept and process the Business Object transferred as a parameter.  The iView also has to be activated as a Drag&Relate target object.

The iView is designated with the symbol This graphic is explained in the accompanying text and these settings as a Drag&Relate target, and is displayed in the navigation panel within the iView Detailed Navigation. The visibility of the iView as a Drag&Relate target thus depends on the current navigational state of the portal role.

In addition, the iView can be attached to another iView or a portal page as a Drag&Relate target object. If this other iView or this portal page is displayed, the iView appears as a Drag&Relate target with the symbol This graphic is explained in the accompanying text in the navigation panel within the iView Drag&Relate Target Objects. An administrator can then predefine navigation between various iViews. However, with Drag&Relate operations, the user determines which Business Object is transferred as a parameter.

The iView Drag&Relate Target Objects appears automatically in the navigation panel when at least one Drag&Relate target object is attached for an iView or a portal page in the content area of the portal.

Procedure

The following steps are necessary to define an iView as a Drag&Relate target with a BEx Web Application:

       1.      Open the iView with the Portal Content Studio.

       2.      Maintain the property Main Object. The property Main Object is automatically filled by the iView Wizard or the BEx Web Application Designer when an iView is created with a BEx Web Application (see Creating Business Objects)

       3.      You can also maintain the property manually. To do this, enter a value for the property Name of the Distributed Query Engine (DQE) from the Business Object. The value is generated when the Business Object is imported.

       4.      Activate the property Drag&Relate Target Object.

To attach the iView to another iView as a Drag&Relate target object, perform the following steps:

...

       1.      Open the other iView with the Portal Content Studio. If this other iView is visible, the upper Drag&Relate target should appear in the navigation panel within the iView Drag&Relate Target Objects.

       2.      Switch to the Drag&Relate Target Objects view. In the Drag&Relate Target Objects view, you can include other iViews that are to appear as Drag&Relate targets when the iView is called.

Result

The iView is available as a Drag&Relate target in the navigation panel and is designated with the This graphic is explained in the accompanying text symbol.
