Operation Maintenance

You use this activity to define operations (see Operation).

This activity allows you to do the following:

Associate user certifications with operations on the Certifications tab page (see Certification)
Use hook point activities with operations (see Setting Up Activity Hooks)
Override system rules at the operation level on the System Rules tab page (see System Rule Maintenance)
Enter custom data values (see Custom Data)

Fields

The following table describes fields requiring explanation:

Main Tab
Field	Description
Status	The current status of the operation Releasable: Operators or machines can work on SFC numbers at this operation. Frozen: Operators or machines can work on SFC numbers at this operation. Users should not change this operation record. Obsolete: Operators or machines cannot work on SFC numbers at this operation. This operation is no longer used. Hold: Operators or machines cannot work on SFC numbers at this operation. This status is temporary. When the hold issue is resolved, users can change the status of this record. New: Users cannot use this operation, but they can change this operation record. The operation is new and not ready for production. Hold Consec NC: Operators and machines cannot work on SFC numbers with consecutive nonconformances logged against them at this operation. Hold SPC Viol: Operators or machines cannot work on SFC numbers with SPC violations at this operation. Hold SPC Warn: Operators and machines cannot work on SFC numbers with SPC warnings at this operation. Hold Yield Rate: Operators and machines cannot work on SFC numbers with yield rates below the defined values at this operation. Note For `_SYSTEM` operation the status is Releasable and the field is disabled. End of the note.
Operation Type	Normal: This operation is a standard manufacturing process. Special: This operation is a special operation. It is not a standard manufacturing process. Test: This operation is for test purposes. Note For `_SYSTEM` operation, the operation type is Normal and the field is disabled. End of the note.
Special Operation Routing	The routing where this special operation is the first routing step If you specified Special operation in the Operation Type field, the system supplies the name of the special operation routing and can automatically create the routing when you save the operation record. Note This field is disabled for `_SYSTEM` operation. End of the note.
Resource Type	Associates a resource type with this operation Note This field is disabled for `_SYSTEM` operation. End of the note.
Default Resource	The resource that the POD automatically displays in the Resource field after the operator enters this operation in the Operation field and presses `TAB`. It must belong to the resource type specified in the Resource Type field on this tab page. Note This field is disabled for `_SYSTEM` operation. End of the note.
NC Client	The nonconformance client for this operation. Use NC Client Maintenance to define the behavior and look of the nonconformance-related buttons. Overrides the nonconformance client specified in POD Maintenance. Note This field is disabled for `_SYSTEM` operation. End of the note.
Default NC Code	The default nonconformance code for this operation. The system supplies this code when the operator logs a nonconformance against the SFC number. Use with a test operation. Note This field is disabled for `_SYSTEM` operation. End of the note.
Reporting Step	Related to SAP ME ERP integration; an ERP reporting step corresponding to this operation Note This field is disabled for `_SYSTEM` operation. End of the note.
Work Center	Related to SAP ME ERP integration; the reporting work center associated with this operation
Maximum Loop Count	The maximum number of times an SFC number can be processed at this operation Note This field is disabled for `_SYSTEM` operation. End of the note.
Special Instruction	The special instructions for the routing step This text appears in the POD, according to the settings of the Special Instruction Display field in POD Maintenance. Note The operation can be of any type. It does not have to be a special operation. If you enter text in this field after this operation has been used on a routing, the text does not appear in the POD. This field is disabled for `_SYSTEM` operation. End of the note.
System Defined	The operation is non-editable and no new versions can be created Note This field appears for `_SYSTEM` operation only. Selected by default and disabled. End of the note.
