You use this activity to create and change tools. You can group tools by tool groups in the system.

This activity allows you to do the following:

  • Assign tool group requirements to system objects

  • Track tools used during manufacturing processes

  • Specify attachment points for tool groups

  • Enter custom data values (see Custom Data)

Fields

The following tables describe fields requiring explanation:

Main Tab

Field

Description

Status

The current status of the tool group

Enabled (default): Allows operators or machines to use this tool group

Disabled: Prevents operators and machines from using this tool group, indicating this tool group is no longer valid for use

Tracking Control

The tracking type for a tool

None: None of the tracking types is selected

Lot (default): The tracking type is lot

Serialized: Disables the Tool Quantity field and makes the tool quantity equal to 1

Location

The location of the tool

Time-Based

If selected, specifies that this tool group is a time-based tool group

This checkbox appears only if the Serialized tracking control is selected.

ERP Group

If selected, additional messages (confirmation message, for example) are sent to ERP system against the selected tool group. The Calibration tab is disabled and calibration settings are controlled by an ERP system.

Attachment Point Details Screen

Field

Description

Sequence

The sequence number of the tool group for the attached points

Quantity Required

The required quantity of the selected tool group

In most cases, this value is 1.

Material

The name of the material to which the tool group is attached

Routing

The routing with which you want to associate this attachment

Resource Type

The resource type with which you want to associate this attachment

Resource

The resource where the tool group is executed.

Shop Order

The shop order with which you want to associate this attachment

Calibration Tab

Field

Description

Calibration Type

The type of tool calibration

None: No calibration is selected. None of the input fields is displayed.

Time (default): You can set up calibration defaults for new tools assigned to this tool group. Available values are: Months, Days, Years.

Date: You can set up an expiration date.

Calibration Period

The period of time or number of cycles prior to the next calibration date
