Work Instruction Maintenance

You can use this activity to define work instruction records that you want to display to operators in the Production Operator Dashboard (POD) (see Work Instruction and Production Operator Dashboard).

This activity allows you to do the following:

Specify the location or the text of work instructions on the Instruction tab page
Associate work instructions with a specific material, operation, routing, resource, or any combination of these objects on the Attached tab page

If you use the Nonconformance feature, you can also associate work instructions with a specific nonconformance client in NC Client Maintenance (see NC Client Maintenance).

Fields

The following tables describe fields requiring explanation:

Main Tab
Field	Description
Status	Releasable: This work instruction appears in the POD. Frozen: This work instruction appears in the POD. Users should not change this work instruction record. Obsolete: This work instruction does not appear in the POD. This work instruction is no longer used. Hold: This work instruction does not appear in the POD. This status is temporary. When the hold issue is resolved, users can change the status of this record. Note The following statuses are not applicable and should not be used: New Hold Yield Rate Hold Consec NC Hold SPC Viol Hold SPC Warn End of the note.
Required	If selected, operators must view these work instructions in the POD.
Current Version	If selected, this version of the work instruction is the current version.
Log Viewing	If selected, records the viewing of the work instruction in the work instruction log.
Change Alert	If selected, displays an icon for the work instruction in the Risk column in the Work list or Operation list of the Rich POD.

Instruction Tab
Field	Description
Type	The format of the work instruction URL: The work instruction is in an HTML browser-compatible file. Text: The work instruction is simple text entered in the Text field.
Always Show in New Window	If selected, opens work instructions in a new window.
URL	The location of the file Required when you select URL in the Type field. The URL must begin with the `http://` prefix. To preview a URL-based work instruction, choose View pushbutton.
Text	The text of the work instruction The system stores the text you enter in the work instruction record. Required when you select Text in the Type field.

Attached Tab
Field	Description
Sequence	The order in which the work instruction is triggered at the corresponding attachment point
Apply This Attachment to Current Version (#) of This Work Instruction	Selected: Associates your attachment points (material, operation, and so on) with the current version of the work instruction. This allows you to keep the attachments with the current version of the work instruction, even if it changes, without having to re-enter the values on the Attachment Point Details screen. Deselected: Associates your attachment point only with the version of the work instruction, which you have retrieved and you are now editing
Material Group	The material group to which a work instruction can be attached
Material/Version	The material and its version to which a work instruction can be attached Asterisk (): All versions. Blank version: The current version. Specific version*: The specific version
Routing/Version	The routing and its version to which a work instruction can be attached Asterisk (): All versions Blank: The current version Specific version*: The specific version
