Background documentationWork Center Maintenance Locate this document in the navigation structure

You use this activity to create and modify work center records by assigning either resources or work centers to them (see Work Center).

A specific resource can belong to only one work center. You must also assign sequence values to the elements in a work center.

If your shop floor uses machine interfaces, work center names must be unique across all sites to ensure that the system sends messages to the correct destinations. For example, SITE1 and SITE2 should not both contain a work center with the name WCVM.

This activity allows you to do the following:

  • Nest work centers inside other work centers and produce a hierarchical structure with resources as the bottom nodes

  • Sequence resources within a work center

  • Release SFC numbers to work centers (see Releasing SFC Numbers to Work Centers)
