You use this activity to create and modify work center records by assigning either resources or work centers to them (see Work Center).
A specific resource can belong to only one work center. You must also assign sequence values to the elements in a work center.
If your shop floor uses machine interfaces, work center names must be unique across all sites to ensure that the system sends messages to the correct destinations. For example, SITE1 and SITE2 should not both contain a work center with the name WCVM.
This activity allows you to do the following:
Nest work centers inside other work centers and produce a hierarchical structure with resources as the bottom nodes
Sequence resources within a work center
Release SFC numbers to work centers (see Releasing SFC Numbers to Work Centers)
The following tables describe fields requiring explanation:
Field |
Description |
---|---|
Status |
If enabled, the work center can have new SFC numbers released to it or assigned to users. |
Routing |
The routing assigned to the work center Note This field can only be edited for work centers. End of the note. |
Work Center Category |
The category of work center None: No work center category is specified. Cell: The work center category is a manufacturing or service unit. Cell Group: The work center category is a collection of cells. Line: The work center category is a single routing. Line Group: The work center category is a collection of lines. Building: The work center category is a building. |
Work Center Type |
The type of work center Fabrication: Performs processes to produce discrete component parts from raw or semi-raw materials Assembly: Combines component parts, subassemblies, and assemblies into assemblies of greater complexity Dispatch: Tracks and moves materials between other work centers Shipping: Prepares, packs, and ships finished parts, assemblies, or end materials to the customer Customer: Performs inspections and verifications on behalf of the customer Prod Control: Receives, stores, kits, and issues parts to other work centers Records Control: Compiles and controls production records for an end material Diversion: Specifies a location where work is received and performed that was originally assigned to another work center and where visibility of the diverted work is retained at the original work center |
Assignment Enforcement |
None: The system does not warn or enforce the operators who try to perform a transaction on a resource in the work center that has not been assigned to them. Warning: The system warns operators who try to perform a transaction on a resource in the work center that has not been assigned to them. Enforced: The system does not allow the operators to perform a transaction on a resource in this work center unless it is assigned to them. |
SFC Can Be Released To This Work Center |
If selected, you can release SFC numbers to this work center. |
