Function documentationCoding Scan

You can use the coding scan to search the coding of the customer-defined programs for all specific SAP system character strings and display them in a result list.

Example Example

You are planning to rename company code 0001.

The identification 0001 appears in various places in the customer-specific program. The coding scan finds all the places in which the character string 0001 appears. You can now check and if necessary adapt these character strings everywhere that they relate to the company code.

End of the example.

Example Example

You are planning to change cost elements from the old value to the new value. The old value appears in various places in the customer-specific program. The coding scan finds all the places in which the character string of the old value appears. You replace the value old with the value new everywhere that this character string relates to the appropriate cost element.

End of the example.

Prerequisites

You are using the SAP Landscape Transformation solution.

You have set up and saved the system environment of the analysis.

An RFC connection exists between the source and target systems.

You must have created a project.

You have assigned a project template to the project.

You have created an execution plan.

You have created an active package with a prepared mapping table for project-related use (according to the information in the roadmap).

Features

You can use the coding scan within a conversion project or independently of it (standalone). Within a conversion project, the coding scan searches for the values to be converted using the data that was specified in the mapping table.

Activities

To perform the analysis, proceed as follows:

  1. You are in the execution plan. From here, select the access to the analysis.

  2. Choose Prepare. The system prepares the data for execution.

  3. To go to the next phase of the execution, choose Next.

  4. Choose Run Analysis in Backend System.

  5. Execute the steps required for the analysis in the backend system.

  6. Return to the work center view.

  7. Choose Next and then Execute.

  8. Choose Transmit Results.

  9. Choose Display Result List in the Backend. The system formats the data and displays it in a separate window.

    Note Note

In addition to the XML result list, you can also have a result list formatted in Word or HTML. To do so, store the corresponding information in the execution plan. Then choose Generate Result List again, and then Display Result.

If you want to display the result directly in the backend system, choose Display Backend Results.

    End of the note.
