Function documentationWorking with the Process Tree

When you create a package, the system creates a process tree according to your transformation solution. The process tree structures the flow of the conversion and guides you through all necessary activities. If you have combined multiple transformation solutions, you can process matching activities in one step only.

Prerequisites

You are using the SAP Landscape Transformation solution.

You have created a project and generated an execution plan in the project composer.

You are in the test or productive phase.

Features

You see the header data of your project in the upper screen area of the process tree:

  • Package number (uniquely assigned)

  • Active indicator (the package is deactivated once the test phase has been completed)

  • Project name with possibility to navigate to project details

  • Description of the project

You can exit the view of the process tree using Close and then return to the project view. You can update the display according to the respective activities using Refresh.

You can use Help to call up the documentation of the functions of the process tree in a separate window.

The following functions are available on the different tabs:

Process Structure

You can perform all necessary activities of the project on this tab:

  • You can switch between different activity displays:

    • Standard

    • Extended: In addition to the standard view, you also see the optional steps.

    • Complete: In addition to the extended view, you also see canceled steps here and can display the details.

  • You can switch between different columns:

    • Overview

    • Runtime: In this view, you also see the start and end date/time.

    • Performance: In this view, you see which tables were considered.

    • Technical: In this view, you see the technical details such as RFC connections and IDs.

    • Customized

  • You can modify the predefined column display (hide columns or add new ones). To do this, choose Customize. A separate window appears in which you can select which columns should be displayed in the future.

  • If you choose Expand All in the total view of the process structure then all lines of the process tree are displayed. If you choose Collapse All, the individual lines are hidden (grouped according to phases).

  • You can execute activities. To do this, select the appropriate line and choose Execute Activity. The activity is then started in the background. You can also execute the activity directly using (Execute).

  • Some activities cannot be called up directly instead they only require a confirmation. Choose (Execute Confirmation).

  • You can navigate to the Documentation of the activity.

  • You can switch to the Extended Process Monitor to display detailed information on all phases (for example, log, status).

  • Under Troubleshooting, you can display help information on the incorrect activities (status: red): for example, information about the cause of the error or solving the error.

  • You can switch between the Phase View and Activity View: In the phase view, you can select a phase in the upper window and then details are displayed on it in the lower window. The activity view displays details on the activities at different levels on the.same structure.

  • A separate window appears if you use the activity search. You can choose the activity of a phase which you can then navigate directly to in the process tree.

  • If you click on the name of an activity, you get to the detail view:

    • Documentation: On this tab, you see the documentation on this activity.

    • Executions: On this tab, you get an overview of the number of executions.

    • Note: You can create a note for each activity. The note has the format txt and is visible for all users.

    • Background Jobs: You can manually modify the number of background jobs.

    • Troubleshooting Activities: See above.

    • Dependencies: You can display the predecessors and successors of the activity. The predefined dependencies are recommended but you can process steps in parallel if the appropriate phases are not active.

  • You can monitor the Status and Progress of the individual project phases.

    Note Note

As of version 2 SP03, you can adjust the default refresh time (200 seconds) using the transaction LTS_PACKAGE_TIMERS specific to your requirements. According to this setting, the system refreshes the status of running background jobs more frequently or less frequently. A manual Refresh is also possible at any time.

    End of the note.
  • At the end of an activity, you can display the Log for the activity. It contains all messages for the activity (with long text, if applicable).

  • You can display information on the number of Executions. The system counts the started activities for each individual execution. Choose Refresh after an execution to display the current value.

  • You can create a Note for the activity or modify an existing one: See above.

  • You can create an Attachment for the activity: To do this, use the Business Document Navigator, which is connected to the process structure.

Details

You see all technical details on the package on this tab:

  • Package number

  • Active indicator of the package

  • Description of the package

  • Who created the package

  • When the package was created

Users

On this tab, you can view the authorization of the users in the project (control or execution system), assign new users to the project at a later date, or remove existing assignments.

To do this, choose Add or Remove Users. A separate window appears in which you can assign the available users to the project using Add or Remove.

Note Note

If a user was already assigned to the project when a package was loaded, the user is displayed here. However, if a user should get authorizations for a package after it was loaded, you can assign the user here.

End of the note.

Authorized users can access the package even during the system downtime.

Systems

On this tab, you can see all connected systems, including details on the database and hardware configuration.

Batch Processing

On this tab, you can display and modify the following system parameters:

  • General Settings:

Here you can modify the maximum number of parallel processes to be processed for all involved systems.

  • Detailed Settings:

Here you can modify the displayed parameters at activity level. The filter function supports you in a separate window, which you can use to filter specifically according to activities and phases.

  • Auto-Restart:

Here you can modify the displayed parameters at activity level. The filter function supports you here.
