Definition
Service (therapeutic, diagnostic, nursing, medical or technical) planned or performed for a patient during one case. This includes any materials that may have been used.
Services are entered in relation to an (internal) service catalog known as the
in-house service catalog. You can enter both billable and non-billable services.Use
Services you enter with regard to a case are the basis for subsequent functions, such as insurance verification processing, billing, Cost Center Accounting, Cost Object Controlling and statistical evaluations. Whether a service is taken into account for the subsequent functions named above depends on how it is entered. For example, you can only create invoices for services you entered as billable services. Likewise, you can only transfer services into Controlling if they have been flagged as CO-relevant.
You can flag these options by selecting the appropriate checkboxes in the service entry transaction. You maintain default values for these options in the service master record.
Structure
Entry Table
A table is available to you for entering and editing services. You enter one service in each row of the table. You enter the service-related data in the table columns. You can also tailor the layout of the entry table to meet your own requirements.
You can define different views for displaying the table. For instance, you might only wish to view extended services. The system outputs the name of the view you set for the entry table as the entry table group box header.

This table also contains customer-specific columns that you can for use for any purpose. These columns are not checked. You can, however, check the content of these columns using your own service rules. You define service rules in Customizing for IS-H. For information about this, choose Patient Accounting ® Service Rules ® Maintain Check Procedure in the IS-H Implementation Guide.
Detail Screen
A detail screen is available for each service record. The detail screen comprises a number of tab pages, each grouping together service record data alike in nature. However, the detail screen does not contain data that is not available to you in the entry table.
For information about the various fields, choose F1 (help) for each field.
Service Entry via Service Forms
As an alternative to manually entering the various service codes, you can enter services with a simple click of the mouse on a service form. To be able to do this, the service forms must be incorporated as views in service entry.

You can create service forms and assign any services to them in Customizing for IS-H.
For information about this, see SAP Healthcare - Industry-Specific Components for Hospitals ® Patient Accounting ® Service Entry ® Form-Based Service Entry in the IS-H Implementation Guide.
For information about entering services via service forms, see
Form-Based Service Entry.Service List
You can display the existing service records in list form. You can tailor the contents and layout of this list to suit you own needs by using the functions of the SAP List Viewer. For more information about the SAP List Viewer, see
SAP List Viewer.
From the service list, you can go directly to the detail screen for a service by choosing the required service. In the detail screen for the service, you can change the service data, or enter new services. When you return to the service list, the system has refreshed the display so that the changed service data is immediately available.

The user’s display authorization is relevant for the list display: The system only displays the services that are assigned to the organizational units for which the user has display authorization.
