Customs bills of lading let you record the relevant data from bills of lading in the system for Global Trade Services (GTS) and extend it with customs-specific data. Customs bills of lading can be used as an additional data source for creating customs declarations prior to goods receipt and pre-declarations Customs Declarations prior to Goods Receipt und Pre-Declarations).

The customs bill of lading lets you record all transportation-specific data, such as the bill of lading number and the shipment data, which in turn includes information such as the shipments in a container and arrival times. With this information and the data from purchase orders and inbound deliveries, you have a broad range of data for creating a customs declaration prior to goods receipt.

Features

Activities

  • The entry of customs bills of lading is integrated in the areas for imports and pre-declarations, because customs bills of lading can serve as a source of data for the documents in these application areas. Accordingly, to enter customs bills of lading, go to the area menu and choose one of the following paths:

    •   Customs Management   Import   Import   Enter and Maintain Customs Bills of Lading   Enter Customs Bill of Lading

    •   Customs Management   Import   Pre-Declaration   Enter and Maintain Customs Bills of Lading   Enter Customs Bill of Lading

The following information in a customs bill of lading is particularly important:

    • The customs bill of lading lets you enter data for various BOL types, such as air waybill or sea bill of lading. You can enter the relevant information for a BOL type. If you enter an air waybill, for example, you can enter the flight number and collective air waybill instead of the trip number and collective sea BOL for sea cargo.

    • You can enter numbers from logistics documents, such as purchasing documents and inbound deliveries, as a reference in the customs bill of lading. If you use the customs bill of lading as a source of data to create customs declarations or pre-declarations, the system can establish a link with your customs bill of lading.

When you enter the document numbers as references in the customs bill of lading, the system displays the customs bill of lading as a linked document in the overview of logistics documents, where you can create a customs declaration prior to goods receipt or a pre-declaration.

      Note Note

When you enter a customs bill of lading number in the inbound delivery, the system also establishes a link between the customs bill of lading and the customs declaration or pre-declaration that you created based on that inbound delivery.

      End of the note.
    • You can enter item data.

  • You can use the document maintenance functions to maintain customs bill of lading that were created manually and automatically (see Maintaining Documents).

    Note Note

To create customs bills of lading automatically from a feeder system, you can use interface /SAPSLL/API_6800_CFB_SYNCH, which you programmed in an implementation project. To make changes to existing customs bills of lading, use interface /SAPSLL/API_6800_CFB_CHG.

    End of the note.
  • You can delete a customs bill of lading. If that customs bill of lading has been used as a source of data for a customs declaration or pre-declaration, however, and is therefore linked in the document flow of those documents, the system prevents you from deleting the customs bill of lading. To delete a customs bill of lading, choose   Customs Bill of Lading   Delete   in the menu for a customs bill of lading..

  • If you used the customs bill of lading as a source of data for a customs declaration prior to goods receipt or a pre-declaration, the system transfers the following data from the customs bill of lading to the follow-on documents:

    • Bill of lading number

    • Place of loading

    • Place of unloading

    • Flight or trip number

    • Number of packages

    • Container number

    • Planned arrival date

    • Departure date as export date

  • You can use the monitoring functions to monitor customs bills of lading (see Monitoring Documents and Transactions).

    • The monitor for customs bills of lading displays all the customs bills of lading you have entered in the system. You can navigate from the list to the individual customs bills of lading in display or change mode.

    • The overview of unassigned customs bills of lading contains all the customs bills of lading that you could not use as a source of data for customs declarations prior to goods receipt or pre-declarations, for example, because you did not link them through a reference or BOL number. You can navigate from the list to the individual customs bills of lading in display or change mode, for example, to determine reasons for error. You can delete a customs bill of lading in change mode.
