If you want to plan products in SAP APO, you must exclude these products from the material requirements planning in SAP R/3. You must ensure that customer requirements are created for these products.

1. To do this, choose Master data → Check MRP types in the customizing for material requirements planning and select New entries.
2. Enter X (without MRP, with BOM explosion) in the MRP procedure field.

2. Assign the products to be planned in SAP APO to this MRP type in the SAP R/3 material master.

3. Ensure that customer requirements are created for the products in SAP R/3 that you have excluded from the planning in SAP R/3. You have the following options:

• In the customizing for Sales and Distribution choose Sales → Sales documents → Schedule lines → Define schedule line categories and then select schedule line category CN (no MRP). Set the requirements/assembly indicator.

• If you want to specify when which schedule line category should be used, depending on the item category in the sales order and on the MRP type, choose Sales → Sales documents → Schedule lines → Assign schedule line categories in the customizing for Sales and Distribution. Create a new entry in the schedule line assignment table for the required item category and MRP type that you have defined for products to be planned in APO. You can create customer requirements using schedule line category CP (MRP).
