You use interactive planning to solve planning problems such as shortages, order delays and resource overloads, and to process typical interactive planning tasks, such as:

  • Creating procurement proposals for manually planned products, for example for products for which you have set standard planning procedures 1 or 2

  • Sequencing on resources

  • Campaign definition

Since the planning is constantly changing, you must regularly check the planning situation to solve new planning problems and to process the interactive planning tasks. For interactive planning there are various tools that provide different views of the planning and tool-specific planning functions.

Prerequisites

You have defined the PP/DS settings.

Process

  1. You display the planning situation using the appropriate tool.

  2. You check the planning situation and identify the planning problems. To do this, you use the alert monitor and the plan monitor. Depending on the tool, certain planning problems are also displayed in the planning interface.

  3. You solve the planning problems. To do this, you execute the following activities:

    • If there is a product shortage (for example, for manually planned products), you can create a corresponding receipt.

    • If a requirement is not covered, because the availability date/time of an existing receipt is after the requirements date/time, you can change the date/time of the receipt.

    • If you want to execute planning for a product, for example, after you have manually created or changed orders, call up the product heuristic.

    • If you want to prevent the system from changing a receipt during automatic planning, you can fix the order.

    • If you do not want the system to change the assignment of a receipt element to a requirements element, you can fix the pegging relationships.

    • If you want to change the sequence or the resource allocation of orders, you can call up the detailed scheduling planning board. In the detailed scheduling planning board, you can reschedule orders and operations to different dates or resources, or optimize the resource schedules.

Your planning changes are simulative until you have saved.
