Inventory management in the ERP system uses the material lock to prevent several goods movements being posted at the same time for a material. Otherwise, inconsistencies could occur between stock quantities and stock values. To keep the lock time as short as possible and to allow parallel stock postings, it may be useful to work with a late material lock.
However, if this is the case, the situation may occur that a transaction has a stock value in its memory that has already been changed in the database by a different stock posting. Inconsistencies can occur if the obsolete value is transferred to SAP APO.
To prevent this, you can configure Customizing in such a way that the system rereads the value on the database directly before transferring stock values to SAP APO. In this way, the most up-to-date stock values are always transferred to SAP APO even when using a late material lock.
In CIF Customizing in the ERP system, choose Application-Specific Settings and Enhancements → Settings and Enhancements for Stocks → Read Stock Values Before the Transfer to SAP APO.
