The Business Explorer portal role contains the following tab pages:

Overview

This initial page provides an overview of the content of this portal role.

My Portfolio

The My Portfolio iView is a KM navigation iView with the special Broadcasting layout. It displays your Personal BEx Documents KM folder (/~alias~/BIuserhome/<user.id>/Personal BEx Documents).

More information about the Broadcasting layout: Display of the Folder Content with the Broadcasting Layout Profile

BEx Portfolio

The BEx Portfolio iView is a KM navigation iView with the special Broadcasting layout. It displays the Public Documents KM folder (/documents/Public Documents).

Under My Portfolio and BEx Portfolio, various Knowledge Management functions are available with which you can work with your documents. You can add ratings, evaluations, feedback, and personal notes to documents. For more information, see Functions for Objects in Folders.

BEx Web Analyzer

You can use BEx Web Analyzer to navigate in queries and analyze data. More information: BEx Web Analyzer.

Background documentation

With the BEx Web Analyzer iView, a BEx Web Application iView is called with the 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN Web template. The BEx Web Application Query String property has the value bi_template =0ANALYSIS_PATTERN. More information: BEx Web Application or Query as iView in the Portal.

The BEx Web Analyzer iView references a system with system alias SAP_BW. This system alias must be maintained in the portal landscape’s BI system so that BEx Web Analyzer can be called.

BEx Broadcaster

You can use BEx Broadcaster to precalculate and distribute queries, query views, Web templates, reports and workbooks. More information: Functions in BEx Broadcaster

Background documentation

The BEx Broadcaster iView is a BEx Web Application iView that the command to start BEx Broadcaster is used for.

The BEx Broadcaster iView references a system with system alias SAP_BW. This system alias must be maintained in the portal landscape’s BI system so that BEx Web Analyzer can be called.

Universal Worklist

The universal worklist (UWL) allows you to manage your work by merging tasks from different workflow systems. These include:

      Workflow

      Alerts

      KM notifications

      Collaboration tasks

The universal worklist is used as a central point of access to tasks, alerts and notifications. For example, you can view and work with alerts that generated by BEx Broadcaster and broadcast to the UWL.

More information: Using the Universal Worklist

Collaborative BI

The Collaborative BI portal page contains iViews from Knowledge Management for displaying collaboration rooms, discussions, and notifications.

Users of the collaboration functions can see the results in these iViews.

Collaboration rooms: Groups of users can exchange context-related applications and information. BI contents can also be included. More information: Making Rooms Available in the Portal.

Discussions: Enable an exchange of ideas about a specific topic using a document in Knowledge Management. Users can hold discussions based on the documents and links that you stored in Knowledge Management using BEx Information Broadcasting. More information: Discussions with Other Users.

Notifications: Users can be automatically informed about any changes to a document (as a result of a new precalculation, for example). For more information, see: Notifications for KM Folders in the Universal Worklist and Notifications.

More information about collaboration functions: Collaboration with Other Users

Note

The collaboration functions can only be applied to BEx Web Applications as Documents and Links. Collaboration can only be implemented with documents and links in Knowledge Management. Collaboration with BEx Web Applications as iViews is not possible because these are called directly in the BI system and are not represented as documents or links in Knowledge Management. For more information, see Display of Content from BI in the Portal.
