Background documentation Definition and Availability of the Contractual User Types

Classify your users in accordance with your contractual agreements and their authorization and meaning with regard to the underlying pricelist. As of SAP Web AS 6.10, the user types are listed for each price list on the User Types tab page.

The user types of the various SAP price lists, and in particular from the mySAP.com price list, are available to you as a Support Package for SAP releases below 4.6B (see SAP Note 428479).

If you require additional mySAP users types for the Business Suite and the Individual Solutions for user classification, which are not yet available in the measurement program for your release status, you can download these individually or together from the SAP Service Marketplace and install them.

After discussion with your SAP contact, use the special module user types for the measurement of user types that are not yet part of your measurement program:

Specify or overwrite the available special module user types with the appropriate name.

User the special module user types to clearly classify your users.

When measuring mySAP.com users for releases below SAP R/3 4.0B, note SAP Note 359271, or contact your SAP contact person for system measurement.

The assignment of the standard user types depends on the status of the client. The standard user type from the valid price list is assigned to users that have not yet been classified only in clients with the status Productive.

The user type Test is assigned as the standard user type to all other users (in clients with other statuses).

The prerequisite for this standard user type assignment:

  • USMM: SAP Web AS 6.20 SP 7
  • LAW: SAP Web AS 6.20 SP 19
  • Plug-In: as of Version 4.03

Note

As of SAP NetWeaver 2004 SPS 8 or SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SP9, you can also specify a standard user type for the price list mySAP.com Individual Solutions and for any price list combination.

You can select this standard user type using the input help; all professional user types from the selected price lists are displayed.

If you only select the SW Components price list or mySAP.com Solution Suite price list, the standard user type is predefined, and the system shows it in a grayed out input field.

Substitute

Can only be created in the SAP system for a limited period of time (such as for vacation representation). During this time, this user can use the functions of another user as a substitute. This other user must not be active in the SAP system during this time. Substitutes and substituted users must be created in the same client. Since the other user is already evaluated in accordance with its assignment, its substitute is free-of-charge.

11

Multi-Client/System

Non-chargeable user that is used for the users that have already been classified once as a chargeable user in a difference client or system. Every multi-client/multi-system user that is created in a different client or system must be assigned to a chargeable user in the same or a different system and can only use, at most, the same functions as that user.

91

Test

Can only be created in production systems in the following exceptional cases:

There are no test systems available.

The user is being used exclusively to prepare the production use of modules that are not yet productive in the production system.

You should agree the classification of test users with SAP.

Technical Users

As of SAP NetWeaver 7.10 SP5, SAP NetWeaver 7.00 SP14, SAP Web AS 6.40 SP22, SAP Web AS 6.20 SP63, and software component SAP_BASIS 4.6C SP55, non-dialog users are included in the measurement result if they have a manual classification.

If they have not been manually classified, these users are not counted, but are included in the measurement log in a separate category.

As of SAP Web AS 6.10, the measurement program counts only the dialog users created in the system. SAP’s own and technical users are excluded from the measurement. The measurement log lists

The automatically excluded SAP users for each client

The users for each category after technical users type (see below)

The following technical user types are counted by released below SAP Web AS 6.10. You must manually classify them as test users (SAP Notes 327917, 553606, and 200980):

  Dialog

  Communications

  System

  Service

  Reference

Users are also technical systems that exchange information with the SAP system, and their users. Direct and indirect accesses require licensing.

Indirect means that the user communicates with a system upstream from the SAP software that bundles, temporarily stores, or summarizes communication activities and transmits them to the SAP installation.

In the case of an indirect use of the SAP software, specify the number of externally defined users separately.

SAP states that technical system access by multiple persons as one defined user is not permissible. This also applies for system access by technical systems and their users.
