Use

For the solution of complex engineering task, you need specialized product information. Personal settings enable context-sensitive access to product information. You can adapt the scope of data and the layout of Web pages to best fit the actual processing situation. These settings are stored for each user on the Web Application Server (WAS).

Note

In addition to these settings, you can use the Business Add-In PLM_PDN_WUI (Product Designer Web UI) to influence the Web user interface of the product designer.

You can make changes, such as:

Procedure

These settings are made on the Web user interface of the product designer. You can call them from any Web page, such as the Initial Page.

  1. Start the product designer Web application.
  1. In the toolbar, choose Settings.

You see the Settings Web page. The settings on the form are grouped as shown in the following overview:

Settings

Use

General settings

  • Display header graphic
  • Display navigation history
The historic path is displayed in the upper part of each Web page.
  • Define the maximum number of entries in the navigation path.

Page-specific settings

Initial page

  • Specify maximum number of hits when finding objects

Object-specific page

  • Views: compress assignments
Set this indicator if you want all iPPE relationship types (relationship assignment) of an iPPE object (source object) to other iPPE objects (target object) to be displayed in one view. The description of the view is Assignments.
Otherwise, a separate view is generated for each relationship type. The description of these views is the description of the relationship type (Customizing).
  • Structure tree and tables: display descriptions
Otherwise, the language-independent technical name is displayed.
  • Upwards hierarchy: display path
The hierarchical path is displayed in the navigation area Structure.

Caution

If an iPPE object is subordinate to several iPPE objects, the path upwards is ambiguous. In this case, the Structure navigation area shows any higher-level object as an example of the upwards hierarchy.

  • Display long texts
If a long text exists for the selected structure object, this is displayed in the Header Data screen area.
  • Display alternatives
  • Enter filter for document type
Only this document type is read when determining linked documents. This restriction does not apply to the Web application Find Document.
