Defining Your Own Characteristics

In the classification system, you can create user-defined characteristics, which do not refer to fields in the project master record.

To define a characteristic, proceed as follows:

In the Easy Access menu, choose Logistics ® Central Functions ® Classification ® Master Data ® Characteristics.

The Characteristics screen appears, showing a number of tab pages, including Basic Data.

Enter a characteristic for project summarization. It must comply with the following conditions.

It must have format CHAR or NUM.
If it has NUM format, it must not have any decimal places, nor can it have a sign before it
No multiple values
In one language only

Having complied with these conditions, save your characteristic.

For your new characteristic to appear in master data maintenance, you must assign it to the class SAP_KKR_CLASS:

In the Easy Access menu, choose Logistics ® Central Functions ® Classification ® Master Data ® Classes.

This brings you to the Class screen.

Enter SAP_KKR_CLASS in the Class field.

Enter 014 (Controlling: Projects) in the Class type field.

Choose Class ® Change.

The Change Class screen appears, showing a number of tab pages.

Choose the Characteristics tab page..

Enter the characteristic(s) you have defined in the list.

Save your work.

If access the WBS in change mode and choose the Summarization function for a WBS element, a list of characteristics appears. The user-defined characteristic appears at the end of the list, ready for input. You can now evaluate it.
