Characteristics

Definition

A "characteristic" is a criterion according to which data can be summarized.

Structure

You use characteristics to define the different levels of the summarization hierarchies. A distinction is drawn between the following:

Reference characteristics, which reference fields in the project master record

User-defined characteristics

In project summarization, proceed as follows:

In Project System customizing:

To define the scope of the summarization characteristics, choose Information System ® Responsibility Accounting ® Project Summarization ® Project Summarization Using Classification Characteristics ® Determine Characteristic Range.

To define any user-defined characteristics you need, choose Information System ® Responsibility Accounting ® Project Summarization ® Project Summarization Using Classification Characteristics ® Define User-Defined Characteristics.

You assign the user-defined characteristics to the "project" class so that you can evaluate them in project master data maintenance.

In the Project System:

Set the Summarization indicator in the basic data for the WBS elements you want to classify. In project summarization, this setting is passed on to the WBS elements subordinate to this one, so that, for example, the costs incurred flow into the project summarization. The parameter is not, however, set in the basic data for the subordinate WBS elements.
Network activity - Set indicator in profile

Valuate the user-defined characteristics in Project System master data maintenance.

Start summarization.

Access the summarization reports.
