Indicating the Relevant Objects
Use
You indicate an object as relevant for configuration management if it plays an important role in the configuration of a product, and you want to retain the processing status of the object in a baseline.

For example, the configuration of the assembly "Pump P-100" is of particular importance in the product "Turbine T-30". Therefore, you indicate the material P-100 as being relevant for configuration management.
For baselining you use this indicator to determine whether the system:
Prerequisite
In Customizing, you have set the indicator Relevant for Configuration Management for the explosion profile.
You can find additional information in Customizing, under Configuration Management ® Application Control ® Define Explosion Profile.
Features
From release 4.6C, you can indicate the objects of the following object types as being relevant to configuration management:
See:
Maintaining the CM-Relevant AttributesIn Customizing for document types, you determine whether documents with a specific document type are relevant to configuration management. If you create a document info record, the system copies the value of the relevancy indicator from the document type as the default value. You can override this value in the document info record.

No indicator is needed for BOMs. If a material is indicated as being relevant, the system automatically copies its BOM into the baseline, provided it has a BOM whose usage is planned for the current life-cycle phase (see: Determining the Structure Information Using BOMs).
