Use

TRM converts instructions from LES into a prioritized list of tasks, and assigns the right task or task bundle to a resource. It achieves this by analyzing the overall situation in the warehouse from the perspective of:

Prerequisites

Task-resource optimization occurs only where a resource selects a task in system-guided mode.

Note
For more information on the different selection modes, see
Task Selection.

Activities

  1. LES submits requests based on reference documents, such as transfer orders and groups/waves, to TRM via Request Management.
  2. Request Management’s scheduler releases available requests and forwards them to Task Management.
  3. Task Management creates a prioritized list of tasks for suitably qualified resource types. For more information, see Prioritization of Tasks.
  4. A particular resource uses its presentation device to log on and select a task in system-guided mode. The interaction between the resource and the presentation device is handled by Presentation Management.
  5. Task Management queries Resource Management for the particular resource’s qualifications.
  6. TRM retrieves a list of ECOs to which there are tasks subscribed and sees whether or not these ECOs are available. For more information, see Execution Control.
  7. Task Management obtains a list of all tasks that the resource is capable of doing and eliminates those tasks that are subscribed to unavailable ECOs. If there is more than one task in this list, the tasks are prioritized.
  8. Task Management assigns the highest priority task or task bundle to the resource.

Note

You can influence the degree of task-resource optimization using the Maintain site Monitor method. For more information, see Monitor Methods.
