Generation Variant Determination 

Use

This function determines suitable generation variants or combinations of generation variants from the label category, label stock, and countries specified in the labeling scenario.

Integration

The quantity of generation variants found is restricted during the course of label determination in the following way:

·        The generation variant must contain a released report template.

·        It must be possible to print the required use symbols with the generation variant (see Filtering of Generation Variants by Use Symbol).

·        The validity area of the generation variant must match the specified countries as far as possible (see Filtering of Generation Variants by Country).

·        The validity area of the generation variant must match the dangerous goods regulations found as far as possible (see Filtering of Generation Variants by Regulation).

Features

The system determines suitable generation variants by evaluating all generation variants created in the SAP Basic Data and Tools component. A generation variant is suitable if it fulfills the following criteria:

·        It was assigned the label category as a report category.

·        It was assigned the label stock as an object of the report application LABELSTOCK.

·        Alone or in combination with other suitable generation variants, its validity area covers all countries specified in the labeling scenario. In order to check this, the system breaks the validity area down into the countries belonging to it and compares these with the countries specified.

The countries DE, FR, and GB were specified in the labeling scenario. The system only found the generation variants GEN1 with validity area DE and GEN2 with validity area GB.  These are not used since not all countries specified are covered.

If on the other hand, an additional generation variant GEN3 with validity area REG_EU (corresponds to countries AT, BE, DE, DK, ES, FI, FR, GB, GR, IE, IT, LU, NL, PT, SE) were found, it would be possible to use all three generation variants, since the generation variants GEN1 or GEN2 in combination with GEN3 cover all countries.
