In the course of their day-to-day activities, your sales personnel have the opportunity to gather information on competitive products. You can record this data in Sales Support in special material master records. You create master records for competitive products using the same procedure as you use to create material master records. In the standard system, the material type WETT is defined for competitive products.

You can enter basic data, such as the product description, material group, or dimension data. You can also assign the product to a specific competitor (for whom you already maintained master data).

By entering the product hierarchy on the basic data screen of the master record, you can later compare and analyze a competitor's range of products with your own.

You can maintain detailed information on competitive products in text form.

You can create a link from the competitive product master record to the Internet homepage of the competitor by choosing System ® Links in the change mode of the master record. A dialog box appears. Choose Link Internet address and then enter the name of the website.
