Procedure documentation Searching for Specifications Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

You use this procedure to search for specifications by entering the search criteria before you perform the search.

Prerequisites

The search functions are active in your system that you need for searching for specifications of your chosen Structure linkspecification category.

If you want to execute a where-used list in the search, an appropriate function must be active for the specification category.

For more information, see the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Recipe Management under Set Up EH&S for Information Systems.

Procedure

...

       1.      Call the recipe workbench and if required, specify the key date or change number for which you want to display the specifications.

       2.      In the recipe workbench, choose the specification category of the specifications you want to find by double-clicking it in the overview tree, for example, This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Recipe, if you want to search for recipes.

The initial screen appears for that specification category.

       3.      Enter the search criteria. Note the following:

The selection criteria you used in your last search are displayed as default values. Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Search Criteria to delete these values if necessary. This function also deletes all entries in the dialog boxes for the extended search functions (see step 3).

Note

You can save search criteria for a simple search that you will need more than once using the This graphic is explained in the accompanying text function with the quick info text Save Search Criteria and then load them again using the This graphic is explained in the accompanying text function with the quick info text Load Search Criteria. You can also save one search per specification category as a user-specific search. The system does not save the entries for the key date and change number.

The search uses the initial screen of Specification Management in the SAP Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) component. All entries refer to the specification category of the specifications you want to find. For more information on finding specifications see the documentation for EH&S under Structure linkSpecification Search.

By entering a change number, key date, or search period, you specify when the search criteria must be met. If you enter a search period, the search criteria must be met on any day within this period. However, the specifications are always displayed on the key date or for a change number.

       4.      Enter search criteria for the extended search functions if required. Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text with the quick info text Enter Parameters next to the extended search function text. Note that the criteria you enter on the initial screen and for the extended search functions are linked by AND, which means that the system only selects those specifications that meet all the criteria.

       5.      Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text with the quick info text Hit List.

The specifications found by the system are displayed in the hit list.

       6.      Continue editing if required, as follows:

If you want to delete individual specifications from the hit list, select them and then choose Utilities ® Selection Criteria ® Manual Reduction.

If you want to execute another search step to include additional specifications in the hit list or to delete specifications from the hit list, choose one of the following functions and then repeat steps 2 to 4 for the new search step. If necessary, you can also perform a query or load a set of hits.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text with the quick info text Extend Selection

The hit lists of the two search steps are combined.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text with the quick info text Refine Selection

The system displays the intersection of the hit lists of the two search steps.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text with the quick info text Reduce Selection

The formulas from the second hit list are deleted from the hit list of the first search step.

Note

You use the This graphic is explained in the accompanying text function with the quick info text Reset Selection to reset the last search step or the last manual reduction that was carried out.

If you want to execute a where-used list for one or more specifications, select the specifications and choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text with the quick info text Where-Used List.
