Function documentation Creating a Successor Folder Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

You use this function if you want to create a new configuration folder for a product or project for which a configuration definition already exists. In Configuration Management, all configuration folders, with the exception of the first folder in a configuration definition, are created as successor folders.

You then always create a configuration folder as a successor folder if a product or project from a life cycle phase is added to another life cycle phase.

Furthermore, you can create several successor folders in the same life cycle phase in order to represent different versions of a product.

Prerequisites

You have already created a configuration definition.

Note

If you create a configuration definition the system automatically creates the first configuration folder in the first life cycle phase. You create all other configuration folders for the same product or project as successor folders.

The permitted phase transitions for successor folders are defined in Customizing the life-cycle profile (Customizing Configuration Management work step Application control ® Define life cycle profile).

Features

If you create a successor folder you use either an existing configuration folder or a Baseline as a template (predecessor folder). The system copies the following data from the preceding folder into the successor folder:
