Background documentation Conversion of Units of Measurement Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

When converting the percentage parts of the components of a specification, the conversion must be in one dimension. Units of measurement in one dimension can be converted by the system, for example, grams to kilograms. Depending on the dimension, the system uses:

·        The weight proportion of the BOM items in the total weight

·        The volume proportion of the BOM items in the total volume

Calculation of Proportion

The proportion of the resulting quantities is calculated as follows:

“Proportion = required quantity / base quantity * 100%”

Owing to the restriction to four decimal places, the rounding error is automatically added to the greatest value.

Example

Composition of A: 12.98676%

Composition of B: 87.01327%

As the value of B is greater than of A, B is rounded up so that:

A = 12.9867%, B = 87.0133%

A customer exit is available in Customizing for Product Safety in the IMG activity Develop Enhancement for Calculating Composition to make your options more flexible.
