Recipe Hierarchy
Recipes are used at different levels within an enterprise, with each application area having different requirements as regards the recipe structure, data, and properties. For this reason, recipes of different recipe types, which, however, are derived from each other, are needed for the same manufacturing process.
You can use recipe hierarchies to map relationships between related recipes in Recipe Management. In this way, you assign, for example, the site recipes derived from a general recipe to this recipe and the master recipes created from a site recipe to this site recipe.

Hierarchical relationships between recipes are not only valid for the change status selected but for all change statuses of a recipe.
The recipe types that you want to use in a hierarchy support relationships with directly higher- or lower-level recipe types (see Customizing for Recipe Management, IMG activity iPPE for Recipes – Technical Background).
You can integrate the recipe types defined in the standard system in a recipe hierarchy according to the following relationships. The graphic illustrates these relationships in a sample hierarchy.

Example of a Recipe Hierarchy:

You can use your own recipe types to create similar hierarchies and add more hierarchy levels or branches, provided that the appropriate Customizing settings have been made.
Furthermore, you can display production versions generated from general or site recipes in the navigation area. If a production version was generated by transformation in a non-SAP system, when you expand the hierarchy layout, depending on your system settings the system may ask you to enter your user name and password for the non-SAP system so that it can display the hierarchy.
You can create a recipe hierarchy in the following ways:
·
By assigning the higher- and lower level recipes to your
recipes on the
Hierarchy tab page.
· By selecting the hierarchy layout under the structure layouts. For more information, see Personalizing the Workbench.
You can print the hierarchies displayed in the navigation area.
