Quality Inspections
In SAP EWM and in the consolidator portal, you can enter the following inspection outcomes for an inspected part:
● Decision code
This code reflects whether a part is accepted, partly accepted, or rejected.
● Defect code
This code provides a more detailed status of the inspected parts.
● Effort code
This code reflects additional activities that were necessary after receiving the returned parts and which parts should be charged to the customer (for example, cleaning).
● Follow-up activity
For more information, see Follow-Up Activities.
You can define suitable values for those codes in Customizing by choosing Logistics Execution ® Service Parts Management ® Complaints and Returns ® Returns Inspection ® Maintain Catalogs.
You can maintain a catalogue profile in Customizing by choosing Logistics Execution ® Service Parts Management ® Complaints and Returns ® Returns Inspection ® Define Catalog Profile.
If no catalog profile is maintained in the material master, a default catalog profile can be assigned for complaints and returns.
The following catalogs are available:
● Decision Code - Catalog type “F”
● Defect Code - Catalog type “G”
● Effort Code - Catalog type “H”
● Follow-Up Activity Code - Catalog type “I”
The inspection outcome is the basis for the credit calculation and the determination of follow-up activities in SAP CRM. Codes can be distributed from SAP ECC to SAP CRM using SAP CRM initial download functionality. Codes in SAP EWM and SAP ECC have to be maintained so that they remain in sync.
The extent to which returned parts are inspected in the warehouse depends on the type of goods (new or used parts) that are returned.
