Language Concept in Recipe
Editing
In Recipe Management, the system distinguishes between the logon language and the reference language. You edit the recipe and the recipe object texts in the reference language. The reference language can be different from the logon language.
The purpose of the language concept is that it is only possible to edit the text elements of the recipe if the logon language and the reference language are the same. If this is not the case, the text fields are not ready for input (gray), therefore, you cannot change the existing texts.
If you logon in one language (for example, English) and have not entered any texts in the reference language English, but texts exist in a different reference language (for example, French), the system displays the French texts. In accordance with the language concept, you cannot change these texts.
The language concept is implemented for the following recipe objects:
· Recipe (header data, navigation, detail area)
· Dependent process elements of the recipe (header data, process tab page, operation tab page, action tab page, and navigation and detail tree)
· Relationships tab page
· Equipment requirements tab page (within the recipe only)
· Stream text of the dependent recipe formula (input and output)
· Description of Copied from, Orig. Process, and Predecessor Version (Administration Data tab page)
· Long Text tab page
· Replacement tab page
· Hierarchy tab page
· Recipe information system hit list
· Input help for recipes
You activate the language concept in Customizing for Recipe Management under Recipe à Define Properties for Specification Category.

If the language concept indicator has not been activated for the recipe, you can continue to edit the texts in any reference language.
You choose the reference language on the
Basic Data tab page.
You can change the reference language as long as the recipe has the system status In Process.
If the texts exist in other languages, use the translation function to translate them.
