Distribution
If you use distributed systems in your enterprise, you can use this function to distribute general and site recipes to the systems of your plants.
General and site recipes can be linked to a number of different objects that are not automatically distributed together with the recipe. For this reason, note the following dependencies:
· At present, a distribution function for formulas is not yet available. This means that you have to enter the formula data manually in the target system. Depending on the type of formula assignment in the recipe, the following applies:
¡ You can create independent formulas under the same key in the target system before you distribute the recipes to which they belong. The link between the recipe and the formula is then taken over when the recipe is distributed in the target system.
¡ The data of dependent formulas must be created in the target system after recipe distribution took place. This data can only be edited from within the recipe.
· Before distributing a general or site recipe, you must distribute the following objects to the target systems:
¡ Change master records that were used to edit the recipe
You can only distribute change master records if they have been assigned a change number from an external number range.
¡ Documents that are assigned to the recipe
¡ Classes that were used to classify the recipe along with their characteristics
· After you have distributed the general recipe, you must distribute the classification, which means the recipe-specific characteristic values.
For
more information about the distribution of these objects, see the
Library of ALE
Business Processes documentation.
· The recipes that you want to distribute have been assigned to the recipe types general recipe, site recipe, or one of your copies of these recipe types.
· Customizing for Recipes is identical in both the source and the target system.
· Your systems have been configured for ALE distribution of general or site recipes (see Customizing for Basis Components, IMG section Application Link Enabling (ALE)).
If you want to replicate changes, the writing of change pointers must be active in general, and for the message types PPE_GREC and PPE_SREC. Note that the message type PPE_GREC and basic IDoc type PPE_GENERAL_RECIPE01 are defined for general recipes, and the message type PPE_SREC and basic IDoc type PPE_SITE_RECIPE01 for site recipes.
You determine the target systems in which you want to distribute your recipes when you start the distribution by specifying the logical systems. If you do not enter a logical system, the data is distributed in all systems that are intended for distribution.
The following functions are available for recipe distribution:
· Initialization of general and site recipes for the first time
Using the recipe key, you select the general or site recipes to be read from the source system. When the data is imported into the target system, however, only those recipes that do not exist in the target system are created. Existing recipes are not overwritten.
· Replication of general and site recipes
With this function, you also use the recipe key to select the general or site recipes to be read from the source system. When the data is imported to the target system, however, existing recipes are overwritten. Recipes that do not yet exist are created.
· Replication of recipe changes
With this function, change pointers are used to determine all changes that have been made to the general or site recipes of the source system up to a point in time you specified. These changes are transferred to the target system. Note that the same activity (create, change, or delete) is carried out when the changes are imported as in the source system. In this case, you cannot use the recipe key to restrict the selection.
Distribution is executed asynchronously, which means that there is no direct confirmation from the target system. You can evaluate the processing status of the general recipes in the source system as follows: When executing the distribution, you obtain a list of the general and site recipes processed after sending. Starting from this list, you can display a distribution log containing the messages that occurred in the source system.
For
information about other monitoring functions and those that are cross-system,
see the ALE Introduction and Administration documentation under

· To distribute general or site recipes, proceed as follows:
...
a. Choose General Recipe Distribution or Site Recipe Distribution in the Recipe Management menu.
b.
Select
the distribution function you want to use, enter the selection criteria and
target systems, and choose
with the
quick info Execute.
A list of the recipes edited appears.
·
To
evaluate the distribution log of a recipe, position the cursor on the recipe
you want to evaluate in the list of the recipes edited, and choose
with the
quick info Display Log.
