Running the Payroll Driver (USA) for
Concurrent Employment
Before you run payroll for U.S. employees in conjunction with Concurrent Employment, we recommend that you first familiarize yourself with changes that have been made to the Payroll Driver (USA) to enable its operation in a Concurrent Employment environment.
You have activated Concurrent Employment in your system and intend to run payroll for concurrently employed persons in your enterprise.
Before you run payroll for U.S. employees in conjunction with Concurrent Employment, we recommend that you take note of the following information.
In a Concurrent Employment environment, the technical name of the Payroll Driver (USA) application has been changed to reflect the enhanced application. In prior releases, the technical name of the Payroll Driver is RPCALCU0. However, in a Concurrent Employment environment, the technical name of the enhanced Payroll Driver application is RPCALCU0_CE. If you access the Payroll Driver via the appropriate Payroll USA menu paths, you will automatically execute the enhanced application (RPCALCU0_CE), rather than its predecessor (RPCALCU0). However, if you intend to execute this application via the menu path System ® Services ® Reportingor via transaction SA38, you cannot access the enhanced application unless you execute RPCALCU0_CE. Therefore, if you intend to run this application via the menu path or transaction named above, take note that you must execute RPCALCU0_CE to access the enhanced Payroll Driver.
Furthermore, in prior releases, payroll schemas U000 and U500 are used in conjunction with the Payroll Driver to process payroll and posting, respectively. In a Concurrent Employment environment, these schemas are no longer used to this end; they have been replaced by payroll schemas U00C and U50C, respectively. Therefore, before you execute RPCALCU0_CE to process payroll and posting for U.S. employees, we recommend that you take precautions to update customer-specific equivalents of standard schemas U00C and U50C to ensure that these changes are implemented in your customer-specific equivalents. As you update your customer-specific equivalent schemas, make sure to utilize all corresponding subschemas and payroll functions that have been introduced to support Concurrent Employment, and make sure to remove any prior subschemas or payroll functions that are no longer used in a Concurrent Employment environment.
Upon reviewing this information, you will be prepared to execute the enhanced Payroll Driver application in a Concurrent Employment environment.
