Use

Ad-hoc items in Guided Procedures (GP) are actions that might be executed if certain conditions occur, but they do not change the general process flow.

Example

In a job application process, an applicant does not meet all requirements but is still a strong candidate for an opening. The HR assistant is not authorized to take the decision to move the application forward, so he or she requests the explicit approval of the HR manager. This approval is typically not a part of the first phase in the hiring process. It can be implemented as an ad-hoc item.

Activities

To attach an action to be executed as an ad-hoc item, you must:

...

       1.      Select the action to which you want to add an ad-hoc item.

To open its design time, choose Open….

       2.      To switch to edit mode, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text (Edit).

       3.      Open the Ad Hoc Items tab page.

       4.      Choose Add.

       5.      On screen Browse Items select the action that you want to attach as an ad-hoc item.

       6.      Choose Select.

       7.      You can map the output parameters of the action to the input parameters of the ad-hoc item.

To do that, choose Map Parameters. Select a parameter in the left-hand table (for the ad-hoc item) and the parameter you want to map in the right-hand table. Finally, choose Done.

At runtime, the available ad-hoc items are displayed in the You Can menu for the process.
