Background documentation Phrase Search in Characteristic Fields Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

For assignment to a characteristic, you can search for a phrase generically according to phrase text or phrase code. You can search as follows:

·        Single generic delimitation: Iso*, for example

·        Double generic delimitation: *15* or *chlor*, for example

·        Placeholder in the middle of a key: Butan+l stands for both butanol and butanal, for example

·        Combination of search methods, for example, *1234+678*

Note

The system does not differentiate between lowercase and uppercase letters during search runs.

System behavior following the search depends on how many phrases the system finds:

·        If it finds only one phrase, it enters the phrase in the characteristic field.

·        If it finds more than one phrase, it displays the input help dialog box. Here the system displays only the phrases that correspond to the specified search criteria.
