Purpose

You can use the quality management (QM) function with SAP ECC to perform quality inspections in a decentralized warehouse [SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM)] using the Quality Inspection Engine (QIE), as you would in the central ERP instance using QM.

Implementation Considerations

If you use at least SAP SCM EWM as the decentralized warehouse system, and myERP 2005 with SAP ECC, you can implement the integrated QM process.

Integration

The following graphic shows the relationship between the central QM in SAP ECC and the decentralized QM in SAP EWM with QIE, which is an integral part of SAP SCM.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

You can use the lean, decentralized functions in QIE in SAP EWM (as a stand-alone) or you can integrate the lean QM functions in QIE with the complete, sophisticated QM functionality in SAP ECC as indicated in the graphic above.

Features

For more information on the lean, decentralized QM functions, see Connection of the Quality Inspection Engine to QM.

Integrating ECC QM with the lean, decentralized functions provides the following features:

·        Inspection lots creation, based on QIE inspection documents

·        Inspection lots updates based on changes in related QIE inspection documents

·        Results recording in QM in SAP ECC, based on QM inspection plans

·        Results replication to the decentralized system

·        Follow-ups in SAP EWM, based on the inspection results

These features combine the advantages of a lean decentralized QM and highly sophisticated central QM.

Constraints

For a list of the constraints associated with inspection lots created from QIE inspection documents, see Structure linkInspection Lot Origin 17 (Externally Triggered Inspection).

Example

Here is an example of how this process works:

       1.      In SAP ECC, an advance shipping notification (ASN) is received from the vendor.

       2.      An inbound delivery is created in SAP ECC and is replicated to the decentralized SAP EWM.

       3.      Goods receipt (GR) is posted in SAP EWM.

       4.      Based on the inspection rules, inspection documents are created in SAP EWM.

       5.      Customizing defines the inspection documents as being relevant for QM in ERP.

Therefore, one inspection lot is created for each inspection document.

       6.      The results-recording occurs in SAP ECC.

       7.      A usage decision is made in SAP ECC and is replicated to SAP EWM.

       8.      Depending on the usage decision, SAP EWM triggers a follow-up activity.
