List of Important Archiving Objects

Use

Archiving objects play a key role in SAP's data archiving concept. The archiving object determines what and how data is archived. General information about archiving objects are find under Structure link Archiving Objekts.

The table under Functions lists a selection of archiving objects that are normally used in SAP Retail projects. The list of objects is by not a complete list.

Integration

The archiving objects from the following areas are of particular importance for SAP Retail:

· Structure link Logistics - General (LO)

· Materials Management (MM)

· Structure link Sales and Distribution (SD)

· Structure link Logistics Execution (LE)

· Structure link Basis (BC)

If you also use financial accounting, archiving objects from the following components are also important:

Comments/Notes:

· Profit Center Accounting

As of Release 4.6A, archiving object PCA_OBJECT replaces objects EC_PCA_ITM and EC_PCA_SUM.

· IDocs and Workitems

Large numbers of IDocs and workitems are generated in an SAP Retail system when, for example, sales data is processed at POS inbound. A considerable amount of this data can be removed from the system after a relatively short period of time (normally after a few days). · RIS Data

Use SAP Copy Management to delete data that is no longer required. Choosing to delete or archive data is an organizational issue and varies according to the individual situation. Data that you may require at a later date can be archived. Transaction MCSX is used to generate an archiving object for the relevant structure. The archiving object carries the name of the structure (object MC_Snnn). For more information, see the Data Prevention Checklist.
