Function documentation Displaying Total Commitment Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

You can use this function to display a brief and clear compilation of all the contracts for the business partner, with a restricted amount of master data and flow data.

Example

You are a bank employee, and would like to learn about the customer Marcus Adams before advising him on a loan. You would like to know the products that are used by your bank’s business partner. From business partner maintenance, you display the total commitment, which provides you with an overview of the business partner’s accounts and contracts. Mr. Adams is married, and has a shared checking account with his wife. Both business partners have a credit card, and a credit limit was approved for the account. The account balance is in credit. Mr. Adams has two savings accounts, and a securities account with your bank, and has also taken up a mortgage loan.

With Total Commitment, you get the most important information on the involvement of the customer with the products of your company, and on the business partner’s relationships with associated business partners, at a glance.

Integration

With the Total Commitment framework, you can bring together information on contracts concluded with the business partner that could be distributed across several systems in your company, in one overview. This condensed presentation offers many advantages. For example, you can immediately recognize the potential for new contracts with the same customer.

You can call Total Commitment directly from the transaction Business Partner.

In the standard system we supply the connection for the components Account Management and Loans Management. These components deliver contract information to Total Commitment in real time.

In the standard system, the total commitment data can be formatted with the SAP List Viewer (ALV), which offers an integrated print and export function. You can also configure the display with your own implementations.

Prerequisites

Before you can display the total commitment, the following conditions must be fulfilled:

·        You have found the systems and applications in which the contract information for the business partner that you want to display is managed. The contract information for the business partner can be contained in SAP or non-SAP systems and applications.

·        You have analyzed which business partners are managed in several systems, and whether the corresponding business partners have different business partner numbers in these systems.

·        You have determined how the contract information is to be transferred, and whether it will be supplied in real-time.

·        You have defined the business partner roles (for example, account holder and borrower) and the business partner relationships (for example, Is Married To or Is Member of the Borrower Entity) for which data is to be displayed in Total Commitment.

To display the Total Commitment, you have made the following settings in Customizing for the SAP Business Partner for Financial Services under Settings for Financial Services -> Tools -> Total Commitment:

·        You have set up Total Commitment in the IMG activity Make Settings for Total Commitment

·        You have checked the settings for Total Commitment in the IMG activity Check Settings for Total Commitment

·        You have implemented the required definitions under Business Add-Ins (BAdIs) -> Display Total Commitment and Callback from the ALV List to the Application

Features

When displaying the Total Commitment

·        you can include contracts that are managed in SAP applications, and contracts from non-SAP applications

·        you may be interested not only in the contracts and accounts for one business partner, but also all the contracts or accounts for a business partner unit, such as married couples or borrower entities. With this function, you can evaluate a list of all, or specific business partner relationships with the relevant attributes, such as liability rates. The “direction” of the relationship is also taken into account.

·        you can determine which business partner roles are included when the contract information is displayed. You can divide the business partner roles into roles for which detailed contract information (such as account balances, currencies, and amounts) is displayed, and roles for which only the header information for contracts (such as the contract number or account number) is displayed.

·        you can total contract values, such as contract amounts, balances or limits

Note

As business partners are assigned to contracts using business partner roles, it is possible that a business partner is assigned to a contract several times, in different business partner roles. When you total the contracts, you should ensure that they are not totaled more than once.

·        you can report the total for all the asset and liability transactions separately

·        Total commitment information should normally be as up-to-date as possible (real-time information). You can control how up-to-date the contract information is on the basis of the application, so that checking account information exists in real-time, whereas information on a securities account is only updated once per day, for example. For more information see Register Application in Total Commitment.

Total Commitment is offered as a framework, and can be flexibly extended with customer-defined configurations.

Activities

The system displays the Maintain Business Partner screen. Choose the Total Commitment tab page.

There are two options for displaying Total Commitment:
