Use

Template and one-time material processing gives you the option of working in sales and SD documents with material master records whose dangerous goods regulation information you only need to specify when you edit the documents. You decide how much information the material master records and the corresponding dangerous goods master records already contain or still require.

Integration

Template and one-time material processing is integrated in the sales and distribution (SD) and shipping processes and can be used for dangerous goods management.

Note

You can use template and one-time material processing independent of the dangerous goods checks and dangerous goods documents.

Prerequisites

To use template and one-time material processing, you must have:

Note

If you have not activated template and one-time material processing, the Relevant for template materials and Relevant for one-time materials fields are not shown in the IMG activity and cannot then be edited.

Note

When editing the IMG activity Specify Fields for Template and One-Time Material Processing we recommend you make the entries only when you have created all the dangerous goods regulations (IMG activity Specify Dangerous Goods Regulations), otherwise new combinations of field name and dangerous goods regulation cannot be generated automatically when a new dangerous goods regulation is created.

You require the following authorization profiles:

For more information, see the documentation for the individual IMG activities.

Features

You can create template and one-time materials and use them in the SD documents as templates. The following document categories are supported by template and one-time material processing:

Activities

Template Material Processing

For a template material you create dangerous goods master records; these then serve as a template for SD processing. Here you should specify as much information as possible so that you only need to edit a few remaining fields in the SD document.

Note

When selecting dangerous goods master records, the system does not take change statuses into account for the template materials. It always reads records with the current date. You should therefore create dangerous goods master records for template materials with the start of validity as 01/01/0001 and the end of validity as 12/31/9999.

When you create an SD document, the system determines whether a template material is included. If it is, the system determines the required dangerous goods master records from the route and the mode of transport categories used. In the SD document screen, the Maintenance of dangerous goods tab page appears. On this tab page, you can edit the fields that are not yet filled – according to your settings in Customizing for Dangerous Goods Management. From here you can also navigate to phrase management to create phrases (for example, for dangerous goods descriptions).

Note

When you branch to phrase management, the system opens a new session with the Edit Phrase: Initial Screen. The session with the Change Delivery: Overview screen remains open.

Note

Fields that you have set as having data entry permitted in Customizing for Dangerous Goods Management in the IMG activity Specify Fields for Template and One-Time Material Processing are then also open for dangerous goods maintenance if you have already edited the fields in the template dangerous goods master records. In Customizing you can also use the incompleteness control to specify which fields must be edited so that the SD document can be further processed.

The data you entered is saved in the additional dangerous goods document table DGMSD together with the SD document; the original template material dangerous goods master record thus remains unchanged and can be used again.

Note

For dangerous goods checks, and for the output of dangerous goods data on documents and shipping dangerous goods data via EDI, the system recognizes whether it has to evaluate the dangerous goods master record from the new dangerous goods document table or from the dangerous goods master data tables.

One-Time Material Processing

One-time material processing is handled in a similar way to template material processing, except that no preedited dangerous goods master records exist for one-time materials. You must enter all required data that was not yet entered when you edit the SD document – in general this will mean much more data than for template materials. The system helps you here by proposing the dangerous goods regulations for which you need to create dangerous goods master records. The system determines the dangerous goods regulations from the route and the mode of transport categories used.

Note

In general, you create only one template material for one-time material processing. You can overwrite the material short text in the SD document.

Activating Template and One-Time Material Processing

You activate template and one-time material processing in the IMG activity Activate Dangerous Goods Checks in Customizing for Dangerous Goods Management. This enables processing at a general level in sales and shipping documents.

The following IMG activities exist to activate or deactivate template and one-time material processing at a more detailed level, for example, for individual sales organizations or individual sales document categories.

Note

Template and one-time material processing does not support editing of shipment documents in the standard system. For this purpose, there is a customer enhancement available in Customizing for Dangerous Goods Management.
