Purpose

In Service Parts Management (SPM), there is a close relationship between the manufacturer and the vendor, or between the vendor and subvendors. To guarantee accurate materials planning and availability, these partners have to exchange information quickly, easily, and at regular intervals.

Extended inbound delivery processing in SPM enables you to:

·        Communicate with the vendor using ASN IDocs

·        Communicate with the vendor using SAP Inventory Collaboration Hub (SAP ICH) to process advanced shipping notifications (ASN)

·        Use SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM)

·        Use the Validation Framework

·        Deal with incorrect ASN data

·        Use multilevel goods receipts

·        Use Third-Party Order Processing (TPOP)

Implementation Considerations

The functions for extended inbound delivery processing can be divided into four main customer scenarios:

·        ERP system customers

·        IS Auto DIMP customers (In Customizing, you must have activated the business function set and business function Discrete Industries and Mill Products (DIMP), by choosing Activate SAP ECC Extensions.)

·        SAP SPM (EWM): You do not have to activate the DIMP business function set or business function.

·        SAP SPM (EWM): You must have activated the DIMP business function set and business function to enable the LAMA functions.

The scenario chosen determines which functions are available and whether inventory management takes place in Materials Management (MM), Warehouse Management (WM), Warehouse Management System (WMS), or exclusively in Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM).
