Function documentation Multiple Specifications in the Usage Decision Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

While you are making the usage decision for an inspection lot with multiple specifications, you can display the different multiple specification objects, as well as the characteristic valuations (in the same way as in results recording). In the process of making the usage decision, you can also manually or automatically trigger an overall valuation of the multiple specifications for the various objects (for example, country or pharmacopoeia), based on the recorded inspection results. In doing so, the system proposes an overall valuation for the assigned material or batch to reflect its suitability for use (for example, the material is suitable or permitted for use in the country Germany). You can accept or overwrite this valuation. When you save the usage decision, the system can automatically transfer the overall valuation for each object to the batch classification.

Prerequisites

The system can only transfer the overall valuations of the multiple specifications to the batch classification if:

·        Class characteristics were assigned to each object type in Customizing, to specify the suitability of the batch material (for example, class characteristics Suitable for and Not Suitable for). Depending on the type of batch search required, a single class characteristic may be sufficient for each object type (for example, search only for Suitable for).

·        The class characteristics have been assigned to the material's batch class

Features

Displaying Multiple Specification Objects in the Usage Decision

When you make the usage decision, you can display the multiple specification objects for an inspection lot without inspection points or samples in the following views:

·        All objects in inspection lot

·        All inspection characteristics for an object

·        All objects for an inspection characteristic

If the inspection lot has inspection points or samples, the sample level is also taken into consideration.

In the transaction for the usage decision, choose the Multiple Specifications tab page. All objects are displayed here. By choosing the Change Hierarchy Display pushbutton, you can switch between the different views

Options for Making an Overall Valuation in the Usage Decision

When you call up the transaction for making a usage decision, you can trigger an automatic overall valuation as follows:

·        You enter a usage decision code (UD code) directly and save the usage decision (without taking the valuations made during results recording into consideration; that is, you do not display the data on the Multiple Specifications tab page). When the usage decision is saved, the system automatically makes an overall valuation, based on the valuations of the multiple specifications made during results recording. You must differentiate between the following cases:

¡        If all multiple specifications for all inspection characteristics have been fulfilled for an object and you enter the UD code acceptance, the system saves the usage decision, exits the transaction, assigns the overall valuation Suitable for Use, and transfers this valuation to the batch classification.

¡        If at least one multiple specification for an inspection characteristic has not been fulfilled for an object and you enter the UD code rejection, the system saves the usage decision, exits the transaction, assigns the overall valuation Not Suitable for Use, and transfers this valuation to the batch classification.

¡        If at least one multiple specification for an inspection characteristic has not been fulfilled for an object and you enter an acceptance UD code, the system automatically branches to the Multiple Specifications tab to display the overall valuations of the respective objects. On this tab page, you can selectively change the overall valuation of individual objects using the Accept Selection or Reject Selection pushbuttons.

·        You branch to the Multiple Specifications tab before you save the usage decision, to check and possibly change the proposed valuation for each of the individual objects. At this point, the system has not made an overall valuation. If you choose Accept Proposal, the system makes an overall valuation for the individual objects, based on the recorded inspection results. If you still want to change the valuations of individual objects at this point, you can do this using the Accept Selection or Reject Selection pushbuttons. After you save the usage decision, the system exits the transaction and transfers the overall valuations for respective objects to the batch classification. In this case, the system does not check the plausibility of the usage decision code you enter with the overall valuations.

Automatic Usage Decision

·        The system can only make automatic usage decisions for inspection lots with multiple specifications if all specifications for all objects are fulfilled. In this case, the system transfers the valuation Suitable for Use for all multiple specification objects assigned to an inspection lot to the batch classification.

Changing a Usage Decision

If you change a previously existing usage decision, you can also change the overall valuations for the various multiple specification objects. When you save the usage decision, the system transfers the valuations to the batch classification again. If the system documents your changes in the change history, you can display the change documents for the valuations by selecting the corresponding icons.
