Background documentation Authorization Groups in Grantee Management Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Definitions

Authorization groups are customer-specific keys that can be created in the master record or in the Customizing settings of Grantee Management (GM-GTE) and can be specified in certain authorization objects in GM-GTE when defining authorizations.

Use

Authorization groups simplify the preparation of an authorization concept in GM-GTE by grouping together the authorizations for master records or by releasing maintenance transactions for specific users.

You define authorization groups for grants, sponsored classes, and sponsored programs using Customizing settings. Go to the Public Sector Management section of the Implementation Guide (IMG), choose Grants Management ® Grantee Management, then choose the following paths to create authorization groups:

·        For grants: Master Data  ® Grant  ® Maintain Grant Authorization Groups

·        For sponsored classes: Master Data  ® Sponsored Class  ® Maintain Class Authorization Groups

·        For sponsored programs: Master Data  ® Sponsored Program  ® Maintain Program Authorization Groups

In each case, you enter a short ID and a longer description for the authorization group(s) you want to use. Having save your entries, you can then enter the groups in your master data by access the master data section under Grants Management in the Easy Access menu and proceeding as follows:

·        In the grant master data, enter the desired authorization group in the relevant field on the General Data tab.

·        In the master data for a sponsored program/class, enter the desired authorization group in the relevant field on the Basic Data tab.

Now see the example for an illustration of how authorization groups and types are used.
