Purpose

The three collateral entities namely the collateral object, collateral agreement and receivable together form the core of all processes in Collateral Management. The relationships between these collateral entities determine a range of collateral processes performed in Collateral Management. For example, the assignment of collateral object to collateral agreement determines charges on the collateral object. These charges can be used for collateralizing receivables. For more information, see

     Collateral Object

     Collateral Agreement

     Receivable

The core may not necessarily contain all the information required for executing collateral processes. Interfaces have therefore been provided for integration with external SAP and non-SAP systems. These interfaces can be used to store and retrieve information on collateral entities. For example, the asset interface can be used for maintaining collateral object data in external object systems. Similarly, the receivable interface can be used for retrieving the required information from credit systems.

In addition, interfaces have been provided for integration with external document, business partner, reporting and valuation systems to store and retrieve information. For more information, see

Interfaces to External Sytems

Data Constellation with Collateral Entities

Each collateral entity can have any number of relationships with other collateral entities. In addition, a collateral entity can have business partners and documents assigned to it. The consolidated overview of relationships between collateral entities, their business partners and documents are represented in Collateral Management as data constellations. These details are shown in the Overview tab page of a collateral entity.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

Graphical Representation of a Data Constellation

A data constellation is presented, analyzed and interpreted from the view point of the collateral entity from which it is shown. The internal collateral processes including collateral monitoring and collateral calculations use data constellations as the basis for interpreting collateral data.
