Bank Master Data and Bank Account
NumbersIn Finnish business practice, bank numbers are not typically used, because the bank number forms part of every bank account number, so you can tell from a bank account number itself which bank an account is at. However, we still recommend that you use bank numbers in the system, as they are required in various transactions, for example, in the electronic bank statement, or for companies located abroad that need your bank details and have to give a bank number.
Finnish bank account numbers are 15 characters long. They comprise a six-digit code that denotes the bank, a hyphen (-), and an account number of up to eight digits, for example, 123456-785.
The system can automatically check any bank account numbers that you enter according to the different rules employed by the different banks in Finland. To activate the checks, in Customizing for SAP NetWeaver, choose General Settings ® Set Countries ® Set Country-Specific Checks. Set the bank number length to 15 and the checking rule to 9.
