Editing Characteristic
Hierarchies
...
1. Choose Accounting ® Bank Applications ® SEM Banking ® Market Risk Analysis or Asset/Liability Management ® Master Data ® Characteristic Hierarchy ® Edit.
The system displays the dialog box Specify report type. Choose a report type. Using the report type you access only a selection of the characteristics. The characteristics hierarchies are, however, valid for other report types as well as the report type chosen here.
2. In the left part of the screen choose a Characteristic for which you would like to edit a hierarchy, and enter an ID for the hierarchy variant.
Choosing
or
takes you directly to the maintenance screen
for the hierarchy structure. If you want to create a new
hierarchy, you first have to maintain the following hierarchy
attributes:
...
a. Enter a short description for the characteristics hierarchy.
b. If required, indicate that the characteristics hierarchy should be visible system-wide. Setting this indicator allows you to use the characteristics hierarchy in other components of the SAP system as well.

Occasionally, when the visible system wide indicator is selected, errors occur when the analysis structure is transported. SAP therefore recommends that you do not set the indicator.
c.
Choose
Hierarchy.
3. Define the nodes of the characteristics hierarchy by entering a short and long description.

End nodes, because they are at the lowest level of the characteristics hierarchy, have to be characteristic values.
4.
Choose
Save.
The characteristics hierarchy is ready for use in the evaluations. If, after you have defined the characteristics hierarchy, you create new characteristic values for the characteristics used there, then you must not enter these manually. These additional values are automatically displayed as individual nodes in the characteristics hierarchy during evaluations.
